A good sound person is hard to find.
Good sound can be the critical difference between a live performance’s amazing success or abject failure. Often times an otherwise ‘perfect’ performance could be seen as a disaster simply because the sound person didn’t mix or capture it correctly.
This class will approach sound strategy for the real-world application of live sound for bands, singers, instrumentalists, djs & drummers, etc. Learn various ways of capturing signals, manipulating and routing mixes back to stage. This class deals with sound technology but has a focus on conceptual approach to sound overall. We will also talk about a sound persons relationship to talent. This is important if you want to be the one they call back again and again. Being a good sound person is about knowing what your talent needs, and how to get them sounding thier best on stage. Do that, and you’ll never be out of work.
Students will learn:
1.) basics of sound capture setup & teardown
2.) routing signal mix and preventing bottlenecks
3.) modifications with EQ, compression, gate, reverb, ect.
4.) acoustic feedback control
5.) auxilery sends and monitor control
6.) multitracking for video sync
7.) live mixing and post production mixing
8.) sync to livestreaming
REQUIREMENTS:
1.) no equiptment needed
2.) no experience needed
3.) must arrive on time and ready to learn.
4.) graduates may be invited to sharpen their skill on our equipment with practice at community events and ongoing boots-on-the-ground education.
